Unique Content Article: Palladium is Quite the Precious Metal

Palladium is Quite the Precious Metal

by Joanna Stevens

Low cost and high value is what you are going to get when you buy jewelry made from palladium precious metal. It is now one of the rarest metals in the market but at the same time, it is cheaper when compared to its counterparts in the market like gold and platinum. However, palladium has our sister metals that fall under the group of platinum precious metal and they include Ruthenium, Iridium, Rhodium and Osmium. Although it cannot match with gold and diamond or platinum, palladium is still a sought after metal in the market today.

The platinum group of metals is made up of metals that are meant for different purposes in jewelry making. Palladium is not as popular as gold and platinum precious metal but it has its advantages too. Palladium is very cheap compared to the above two counterparts. The good thing is that you do not have to miss out on your favorite jewelry because of money. Cost is no longer the limit. Palladium precious metal is in most cases, used as an alloying element in jewelry making.

Palladium precious metal has a natural white color which is far much better even when it is compared to other counterparts in the market like the white gold which does not really add up in its white color. Palladium is not likely to tarnish even after a long period of use. Because it is not coated, there will be no peeling back of color and have other plating start to appear. It is the best to use for a long time because it will always be as good as new, and just as genuine.

Though most critics would not like to believe it because of its light weight, palladium is actually up to ten times more durable than even platinum precious metal. Combine that with its feather weight and you got a piece of accessory that you really cannot resist. That it is harder than platinum implies that it will last longer and at the same time bracelets and rings made from the metal are less likely to show scratch marks.

It is true that of all the precious metals, palladium precious metal is the rarest of them all. However, the good thing about is that even though rare and scarce, it is still far cheaper than diamond, gold or even platinum precious metal. Another benefit is that where as many people will show allergic reaction to gold jewelry, they will in fact bond very will with palladium. This, coupled with its natural color, white, that is not tarnished by exposure and time, has made it an instant favorite among women.
