Silver As A Currency

by Antonio Johnson

Today, the currencies in the world are money in most. But years ago, it was not the way it is now. A main currency thousands of years ago used to be the... salt. Yes, it was a currency and its value was the same like the gold's. One kind of trading has been the exchange trading, too. In those years, life has been simpler than ours. But that's not the main theme. Right here you will see the currencies then.

One of the currencies was very popular many, many years ago- that's the silver. It was used as a currency many years ago. It was actually not difficult to use silver as a currency as it used to be really well-known. Many years ago, the money did not exist and precious metals such as the gold and the silver were used as a currency. Their alloys have been very popular those days. They were used for currencies. That's because, the thought for forging them has been impossible for thinking, not for doing this. This was the main reason for the people to use silver as a currency.

As a chemical element, the silver is pure metal and his properties are really good. It's one of the purest metals and it's not damaging the human organism. There are not damaging doses from the silver. It's not very hard, little harder than the gold. It is melting temp isn't very much, about 900 degrees Celsius. It has the highest electrical and thermal conductivity from the metals. It also has the one of the highest optical reflectivity.

However, the silver is a beautiful metal. It's used for making jewelries. Its price is lower than the gold's. There are many interesting jewelries made from gold. There is the silver medal for second place. There are silver cups. Silver coins for collectors.

But the use of silver as a currency is not the only interesting fact about that metal. Silver is used in the medicine, too. It has toxic effect on some bacteria and viruses. This is one big plus of the silver. Everybody knows the silver water. It's something like the alive and the dead water, it's good for the brain, for the skin and many others. Silver is an aristocratic metal also as the aristocrats are using it very much.

There are much interesting uses of silver. It can be said for electromagnets and the hi-end sound cables. People use his electrical conductivity for the cables. In the World War II the silver was used for making electromagnets, because of the ending of the cooper in the war.

It can absorb free neutrons, which are his property. That silver's property is used by the people. They are putting it into pressurized nuclear reactors.

The silver's price is high, if you compare it with steel for example. But when compared with the other jewelry metal such as gold, platinum or diamonds, silver is really cheap.
